The now Labour leader made the comments 20 years ago when he was a backbencher for the Labour party. Just days after the princess was killed in a car crash in Paris, Mr Corbyn told Daily Express: “I would be happy to join a Republican group. The mood of the country has changed dramatically since Diana’s death. A few years ago any of us who criticised the monarchy received shoals of letters in protest.
