Subject: “The Audience” – A West End Production

As queen for sixty years, Elizabeth II has met each of her twelve Prime Ministers in a weekly audience at Buckingham Palace – a meeting like no other in British public life – it is private. Both parties have an unspoken agreement never to repeat what is said. Not even to their spouses. The Audience play breaks this contract of silence – and imagines a series of pivotal meetings between the Downing Street incumbents and their Queen. From Churchill to Cameron, each Prime Minister has used these private conversations as a sounding board and a confessional – sometimes intimate, sometimes explosive. In turn, the Queen can’t help but reveal her own self as she advises, consoles and, on occasion, teases. From young mother to grandmother these private audiences chart the arc of the second Elizabethan Age. Politicians come and go through the revolving door of electoral politics, while she remains constant, waiting to welcome her next Prime Minister. The Chairman and the Executive Committee felt that a visit out to the Apollo Theatre to attend this show on 21st April (The Queens actual Birthday”) was a fitting tribute to her. A block of 10 tickets in the stalls has been booked by the Events Secretary for Tuesday 21st April at the Apollo Theatre Shaftsbury Avenue – on a first come basis. The ticket price is £64.50 per ticket which includes VAT and Insurance – this covers refund of ticket if unable to attend due to illness or other similar occurrences. Tickets can be reserved by contacting the Events Secretary on: [email protected] giving your name and contact number. Or dial 0203 701 1859. NOTE: all requests will be acknowledged by return email and full payment will be requested. The Chairman and Events Secretary are looking at a possible gathering before attending the theatre to have “Bite to eat and Toast the heath of Her Majesty”. It is certain that this will be a great evening and our Chairman looks forward to welcoming you to this fantastic event. Make sure you reserve your tickets today as this event will sell out fast!
